This is a past Claymore RPG campaign. Although it is written by the GM, it is written from the point of view of a player. Its a synopsis of what the players think is happening... Not what is actually going on. It's meant to be a usefully factual document and not to be entertaining, although some times it is.

Is this the End for our Heroes?11/2/2019 Yes, yes it is.
They survived many perils. But the GM getting a more demanding job did what orcs and subterranean monsters couldn't.

Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish12/5/2018 01 Dec 614
The party Whispered the boat captain, saying that the man that booked passage on his ship was fleeing after wronging both the Conclave and the Church of Ignimius. The Whisper stated that if he brought the fleeing glass blower back the captain would receive 50g and 'nothing would be held against him'. The captain returned and brought the fleeing man to the Church, eventually ending up with Parson Ordmaer. The captain said that he was threatened by a wizard, and was told that the glassblower was wanted by the Church (he was not) and that he needed to be returned to Utica. The glassblower told Pason Ordmaer that he too was threatened when he couldn't make some impossible glass object for the party, and he fled for his life. Having earned a reputation in Utica for being hot-headed idiot- necromancers and having personally threatened Parson Ordmaer in the recent past the party was given the benefit of zero doubts. Pr. Ordmaer pulled strings in the civil courts, and acting as a character witness, threatened to get a summary judgment against the party in their legal case against the glassblower and possibly have them declared outlaws. The party agreed to sign documents giving up their claims against the glassblower and leave the county. Before he left Drywynn took a 200g loan from the Conclave and used all of it to increase his efforts to help the poor in Utica. The party left, taking the group of downtrodden peasants Drywynn convinced to follow him and a good deal of supplies to the site of his potential hamlet. On the way they stopped at Stouton and found out that Banric's Gypsy curse had not been removed and that the ritual they were instructed to do was non-sense. The party was planning on making their way to Utica to find a new glassblower, but a few miles past Horseforth they crossed paths with a cavern (some of the only traffic seen on the trip). Out of the blue, Ex. Henderson asked the cavern master if he had moved any glass lately. This line of questioning led the party to Ealfled a glassblower in Horseforth who had recently made two exact copies of the lensoid for a man named Sentwin, a shifty Northmen, who was working for someone within a day's travel and sold a large number of blue topaz's below market value to raise money for the construction of the lensoids. Sentwin left town on or around the 20th of Nov, without the lensoids, and was headed towards Unam. Obtained the Lensoid, sort of.11/23/2018 29 Nov 614
The attack on the orc ring fort went very well. None of the PC's were badly injured, most or all of the orc leaders and champions were killed, the fort itself was cleared, and the party recovered a magical spear and a reasonable amount of treasure. Eadwig also wanted to talk with a local temple about Ex. Strun and Ex. Braven attacking the party in the graveyard. Parson Ordmaer was appalled by the party's description and vowed to see to the mater even though Ex. Nicolas thought it wasn't necessary. A day later after talking to Strun and Braven, Parson Ordmaer had a different attitude and confronted the party about raising undead and conducting evil ceremonies with necromancers. No understanding could be reached, Banric and Drywynn became openly adversarial, and Parson Ordmaer left saying he would be keeping an eye on the party as long as they stayed in Utica. During the exchange with Parson Ordmaer, the party did learn that Strun and Braven were told about the ceremony in the graveyard by a local man named Wilsig. Banric and Drywynn found him, discovered that he was paid by gypsies to tell Strun and Braven about the ceremony. They used magic to terrorize him and his family and threatened to kill him causing him to confess his association with Gypsies and seek refuge in the Church of Ignimius. The time came for the party to collect the finished glass lensoid. The glassblower was excited to show it to the party. When it was finally seen it was apparent that it was not clear enough to be used. The glassblower claimed that the party was not clear about how clear the lensoid needed to be. He was willing to keep working but asked 'how the party wanted to handle the money', they had already paid him 280g. Everyone came to an agreement, Eadwig thought to himself that the glassblower was too accommodating in his terms but kept the thought to himself. Drywynn watched the glassblower's shop/house from the street, while invisible. Banric realized too late that the glassblower was going to run. Which he had done almost immediately after showing the lensoid to the party. The party investigated, checking the gates, talking to street urchins, and finally bribing the dock master. They found that the glassblower had left very quickly on a boat to Port Fealty, a city in the Khante of Cordina. The party disagreed on if they should try and track down the glassblower. Eadwig did file a legal claim against the glassblower. Gypsy Cure11/7/2018 28 Nov 614
Following Lavina's directions for how to get rid of the Gypsy curse the party traveled to a cemetery 20 minutes outside of Utica that is used to bury the unconsecrated dead. After burying Banric up to his neck and both of Eadwig's arms, something was heard moving in the overgrown southern section of the cemetery. Going to investigate Ex. Nicolas was injured by a lightning strike from above, followed by a Arrow spell. The rest of the party could see a figure running directly at the party from the southern section of the cemetery. Banric used in hidden orc zombie and his wolverine zombie to intercept, but they were quickly destroyed. An invisible Drywynn cast Lightening Bolt on the figure who could by then be seen to be a Priest of Ignimius. A fight ensued between the whole party and two priests of Ignimius, during which the priests yield things like, "Quick come with us". "Your in danger". "Stop resisting". "Mages are trying to kill you". Eagwig and Banric yielded things like "We're on the same side". "Stop fighting". "The mages are are friends" "He (Nicolas) is a priest of Ignimius. Ex. Nicolas was almost killed, and when Banric was identified as a mage one of the priests kicked his head like he was punting a football, knocking Banric out. Pulling Eadwig away, who was not fighting back, the 'enemy' priests begged and pleaded for Nicolas to come with them. In relative safety, Eagwig was able to figure out that the priests believed that he and Nicolas had been charmed by wizards. They also gave their names as Strun a paladin and Bravan a priest of Seft. Eadwig convinced the priests to use See Magic to see that they weren't charmed. They explained to Eadwig that they were told that 'evil wizards' were conducting a ceremony in an unconsecrated graveyard involving the murder of two innocents one of which would be buried up to his neck, the other would have his forearms buried. Eagwing and Ex. Nicolas talked with the two priests. Nicolas was hostile, as was Ex. Strun and Ex. Braven. Nicolas was upset at an unprovoked attack. The other two priests said regardless of what was going on here some kind of ritual was happening in an unconsecrated graveyard, at night, with multiple wizards present, AND undead. Ex. Strun and Ex. Bravan left, Banric decided to continue with the ritual to remove the gypsy curse. At sunrise the the party gave him the 'potion' which tasted like urine and vinegar. Inside the bottle there was a piece of wood with writing on it. Nicolas looked at it and said, "That's weird, I can't read this" and tossed it into the fire. Known only to Nicolas, the text read "you just drank gypsy pee." Out of the Badlands11/4/2018 27 Nov 614
Drywynn's Whisper to the party gave the following information: I tell you, in this order or priority: 1 I followed the orc to their fort 2 they went in and a group came out. I give you the count of orc (24), ogre (2), and badlands ogre (4). 3 the [party's] fire was not the sort that could be found from the air (this is why he got lost). 4 I have landed near where I believe you to be and will attempt to find you, but I recommend that you head south immediately back to Utica. I will meet you at the time appointed for the peasant meet. With this information the rest of the party fled south instead of staying to fight the orc force. Going back to Utica they talked the the glassblowers, and hired one of them to make the lensoid paying him 280g. The other glass blower said he couldn't make it and suggested going to Urna and talking with a gnome craftsmen. After this the party asked around and found that a camp of Roma were outside of town. They traveled there to try and get the Roma curse removed. After a somewhat tense introduction via a local friendly to Drywynn, Lavina the elderly Matriarch of the group agreed to see the party. Banric was asked to explain what he had done become the victim of a Gyspy curse. He said some true things, among long awkward silences... But did not confess the extend of his crimes. Banric was also told he had to give up something he valued greatly. He paid Lavina a moderate amount of gold. Banric and Eadwig did receive instructions to remove the curse; At sunset in a graveyard of your culture bury Banric up to his neck, and bury both of Eadwig's arms. Stay that way until sunrise when both will drink a 'potion' that Lavina prepared. Into the Badlands10/12/2018 25 Nov 0614
The party had some business to finish up in Utica. Eadwig wanted to check in with every important NPC is town. He found the guards of the large city unimpressed with the the tails of a party who are practically heroes of nearby rural areas. A Friend spell was needed to even talk with the guardsman's Sergeant, who was so unimpressed with the groups of vagrants that instead of sharing 'intell' he all but accused them of a local unsolved murder. Drywynn's delicate pride being injured, he stalked the Sargent with his home-made invisibility suit. Not finding an easy opportunity to enact his foul vengeance he gave up after some 6 hours. Eadwig continued his quest to be taken seriously by, anybody in town. Ex. Nicolas and Eadwig talked to a local priest of Seft. Unfortunately their stories again did not impress, instead coming off as crazy or at least deluded. Culminating in an exchange that went something like; Party: We have unique and important information about the lizardmen [sic], but the guards won't listen to us. Priest: Have you fought or otherwise harmed the lizardmen [sic]? Party: No, we have been concentrating on talking with them to buy time for people to prepare defenses. Priest: Haven't the lizardmen [sic] been attacking people all over Gent? Party: Yes. Priest: <Questioning stare> Have you done anything to oppose the lizardmen [sic]? Party: We are making a magic item to thwart their plans. Priest: <blank stare> Banric spent all this time working in the Conclave tower, finding out that most wizards are not really interesting in helping other wizards or really any anyone. Eventually being told 'the only thing all wizards have in common is that they are welling to hurt everyone else in the world for their own gain'. To make the Cursed Lensoid the party needs a quantity of fresh herbs in the midst of winter. Drywynn talked with a wizard and was told that the king had some method of growing plants even in winter. Drywynn did not tell the party this, instead keeping the party on the path of trying to build a glass house to grow the herbs in winter. Finding the 'Big City' totally indifferent to them, the party decided to go kill orcs, hoping to find on of the objects needed to make the Cursed Lensoid. After being hampered by the fact that Drywynn left the party on his petty quest for revenge while invisible, didn't tell anyone, and no one knew where he was... the party set out the next day. Walking into the badlands, around nightfall they set up a fake camp to attract orcs and an observation camp. A small group of orcs was seen approaching the fake camp. After watching the fake camp for a few minutes they left the way they came. Drywynn followed them (invisible) back to their settlement, a ring fort of maybe 100 orcs. When a larger group left the ring fort 15 minutes later Drywynn used Fly to outpace them trying to get back to the party's camp. However he become hopelessly lost flying through the moonless night. Drywynn plans on Whispering the party before heading south, hoping to stumble on the party, but at least heading out of the Point Badlands. 3rd Frogman Meeting10/4/2018 14 Nov 614
The party met with the Deep Frogmen as scheduled. They resisted Thought Reading. Ex. Nicolas had the idea to make the glass object (here on called a lensoid) the Frogmen want, but make it a cursed magic item that will somehow disrupt the Frogmen's ritual. Banric explained why the lensoid needs to be magical (the glass would be too large and fragile, and cannot be made as clear as needed without magic), and asked for more money. The Frogmen refused saying they would not keep paying the party with no evidence they were making the lensoid. After the meeting Drywynn used his homemade invisibility suit to follow the Frogmen. When his suit ripped while walking through the Stallion Forest the Frogmen spotted him. One yelled 'he's a wizard'. The Frogmen attacked. Drywynn was moderately injured but was able to flee into the forest and Cast Mend on his suit and Fly away. Traveling to Utica the party talked to two glass blowers about making the lensoid. Both said they would need time to experiment. The party paid both, one saying come back tomorrow the other in two days. We're Going in Triangles!9/27/2018 15 Nov 0614
This session was dominated by the party's travels from Kindelton to Bembridge, over to Stouton, and back down to Kindelton. Along the way the party talked to a variety of people and learned a variety of things. Ex. Nicolas' Father: His direct superior has became over concerned with political maneuvering at court. He has heard credible reports that the Deep Frogman have attacked several people west of here. He is proud of Nicolas. Horse Trader: Banric once again abused the horse trader, intimidating him into letting Banric drain some of the life force from one of his horses. The horse trader was paid well. Baron Modig: When Drywynn talked about trying to create a small hamlet on the homestead on which Modig gave him permission to live Modig seemed supportive. But warned of logistical issues like needing the Church's permission to set new fountains. He also explained that starting any kind of economic endeavor on the land would require him to pay Modig taxes and submit to other duties of fealty. Messangers: The overdue messengers were found and confirmed that people are being attacked and killed by the Deep Frogman throughout much of the Northern part of Gent. They are avoiding large cities and no attacks were reported near Horsforth. Locals of Bembridge: To have a glass object made to the Deep Frogmen's specifications you would have to go it Unam or Urna, it would be difficult and would need a master glass-blower and the resulting object would be extremely fragile. Crop yields were poor around Utica this year. The Conclave tower in Bembridge seemed more vibrant and active then the one in Stouton. Drywynn paid 30g to hire a foremen and worker to help repair structures in Bembridge that were damaged in the resent earthquakes. After a contact suggested his own cousin as the foreman, Banric implied that Drywynn did something horrible to the last foreman he hired because for the foreman's incompetence. A more suitable foreman was suggested. Algen (the apprentice): Banric's Gypsy curse is still functioning, Algen is progressing in his studies to become a mage but is only a few weeks in. Banric: Banric told the party about the Cauldren of Cost, a magic item that he stole from the murdered Gypsies without telling the party. He explained that he initially keep it secret because Drywynn was inscrutably anti-stealing-from-murdered-Gypsies. And that he intended to tell the party about it sooner, but life got in the way. Drywynn explained to the party that Banric told him all about the item and that it must have just slipped there minds (a lie). Eadwig and Nicolas accepted this, although Eadwig did lecture Banric. 13 Nov 2018
After returning to Drywynn's 'homestead' the party made preparations, healed up, and napped. Their peace was interrupted by an earthquake sometime before 9:00 pm. The earthquake was powerful enough to cause the majority of the ruined house to collapse, injuring everyone inside to varying degrees. After the earthquake Banric used Fly, Night Vision, and a full moon to survey the area. He saw a large number (less then 100) of humanoid figures in the swamp south of the homestead. The party left for their meeting with the Salamandermen so that they could be there at 11:00 pm (the meeting was at midnight). Drywynn scouted the area with his home-made invisibility suit. He found 2 trenches dug into nearby fields each with 5 Salamandermen archers hiding inside. He brought this information back to the party, the party decided this could be a defensive action and went ahead with the meeting. During the meeting the Salamandermen were shown the various samples of 'clear rocks' that the party collected. They identified "glass" as the material they were interested in, much the PC's surprise. Banric explained that glass was a manufactured material. The Salamandermen gave a detailed description of what they needed and the party agreed to have it constructed but said it could take months. The Salamandermen give the party 10 blue Topaz (party estimates 250g). The two groups traded creation myths and the Salamandermen said that they were told to acquire the glass and did not know its purpose. Plans for the next meetings were set, but both sides warned they might not be able to make it back for it, contingency plans were made. Soggy Bottom Books9/12/2018 13 Nov 614
As carefully as they could, the party started transporting the Cleaned books back to Kindleton. Additional one of the magic rings recovered from Ossiak's lab identified as being very fragile, in fact it is activated by being broken (it is an extremely powerful item that can make any wizard enchantment permanent). It was decided that Drywynn would wear this ring. On the walk through the Stallion Forest the party was attacked by a large number of goblin archers. They were scattered by a Cause Sleep spell casted by Drywynn. Although it don't slow the party much it was discovered that various small animals had removed Eadwig's trail flagging. This was attributed to Banric's Roma curse. Ossiak's spell book's, being large, heavy, fragile, and mildly damaged from the day's walk, were hidden inside a large rock in an abandoned field 8 miles south-west of Kindleton. This was done using a Stonemold spell. Once back in Kindleton the party checked on the messengers they sent out, they were all overdue. Ex. Nicolas also talked with his brother, Ex. Sebastian, telling him 'banishing' the party wizards from Kindleton was unacceptable. Sebastian was not persuaded to be less anti-wizard, but simply acquiesce under the social pressure from his brother. Sebastian asked his brother to agree to mitigate the wizard's evil influence on the town and if needed fight alongside the town against the wizards. Nicolas agreed without admitting that such an outcome was possible. Both brothers continuing to emphasize different virtues of the Church of Ignimius. A Cascade of Rats, Ossiak's Lab II9/5/2018 12 Nov 0614
Eadwig entered to fight the two Stone Guardians. Ex. Nicolas followed and Drywynn snuck his way in and ran to a corner. It soon became apparent that Eadwig was going to be quickly crushed to death by the Stone Guardians, and that they where immune to most damage-causing spells, like Magic Missile and Lightning Bolt. Fortunately on successive rounds of casting Nicolas used Stonemold to destroy one and successfully dispelled the second. However, at the same time the second Guardian was being dispelled it managed to open one of the many (trapped) doors in the room. Beyond the door there was only a 6 inches space filled with undead rats and when the door was opened they tumbled out immediately attacking Eadwig and Nicolas. 11 Nov 614
Before leaving Kindleton in search of Ossiak's lab, the party talked to Baron Modig (who controls most of the inhabited lands south of Kindleton). Modig commiserated with Drywynn about his banishment, offering him one of several ruined farmsteads as a place to stay. Drywynn asked about the wall and gave the funds he had promised earlier to help in its construction. The party then traveled to the Stallion Forest, searching a little farther south then they searched before. After the first day of searching the party made camp. In the night Banric was bitten by a spider multiple times. Thanks to Drywynn's quick thinking he found the spider scurrying away. Ex. Nicolas identified it as a timid but potentially lethal variety. Nicolas treated the wound, and Drywynn prepared a herbal remedy. With this treatment Banric had suffered no permanent affects by the time a Cure Poison/Venom spell could be cast the next morning. The Roma flees, more Dead Horses8/24/2018 09 Nov 614
Banric raced around trying to find the trail of the bleeding Roma woman, Growlin accompanied him but was lackadaisical. A trail was found in a nearby alleyway and followed to the city walls. Not being able to climb the wall, the wizards walked the long way around and picked up the trail on the far side of the wall using Banric's familiar (a fly possessed by the demon Gothsen). The trail led to a small nearby forest, not wanting to follow her into a forest along, Banric returned to get the party, Growlin declined to search with a party he didn't know. Sometime later the party continued the chase, utilizing hired dogs, and made their way through the forest. The trail was lost when the forest turned into a swamp. The party then had the idea to check if their were any Roma camps in the area, and found the location of one deep in the hills 4 hours outside of town. They made haste to the camp but found only the refinance of an abandoned camp. Intersession III8/20/2018 Between sessions the party role played their rendezvous at noon (planning on leaving the town).
Banric told the party the following; "After I was almost killed by the Roma, I sent a note to a wizard friend in Stouton telling him about my injuries and warning him that they were headed his way. He did come across them and captured the fighter who attacked me and their woman leader. When I went to visit him I saw both of them in captivity, but while we were away, she managed to escape - killing his assistant and the male Roma. I think we need to track her down before her curse can do us more harm." The party started the discussion about if finding the Roma woman that cursed the party was more important then dealing with the Deep Frogmen quickly, and how the party would find the woman if they want to. Dead Horses, Cows, Birds, and Roma8/17/2018 08 Nov 614
The party found out a good deal of information about the Deep Frogmen and spent along time discussing what they would and would not tell the authorities. Opinions ranged from explaining everything since the party thought the whole kingdom of Gent was at risk, to telling the authorities almost nothing because once the information got out the party couldn't control it and a bad actor could actually try and sell the Deep Frogmen the stone they were looking for. The party consensus ended up more on the side of secrecy. They met with Sgt. Mann and Sebastian and seemed to succeed in relieving only what they intended to. Next the party wanted to do some research so they, and a local tracker, went north on the road to Stouton. They found the location they thought the wolf attack took place. Very oddly there was no blood or other signs that 11 horses were killed by wolves, there was some very resent regrading or other road repairs in the area. Banric consulted a small spirit board and led the party off the road to a small farm where a family could be seen processing several dead horses. Enter the Deep Frogmen8/8/2018 07 Nov 614
Ex. Sebastian talked with Ex. Nicolas, he was concerned that Eawig seemed to be telling a different version of the 'whale story' then is generally known. This contradiction could end up hurting Ex. Nicolas' reputation, which would be a shame since if his reputation continues to grow it will do a lot of good inspiring others. The party also sought out the horse dealer who was attacked by wolves. It come to light that this horse dealer was actually paid by Banric to buy the Roma's horses from the townspeople (who bought them off of the party and militia) and take them to Stouton for resale. Banric's interactions with the horse dealer were creepy and intimidating, which was not lost on the party. After the party left, Banric pressured the horse dealer to agree to repay Banric an unfairly high amount for their failed enterprise. With the help of an amateur tracker the party found a trail used by the 'lizard people'. Since the 'lizard people' had not ever attacked, the party simply openly waited for some to walk by. At 1:00 am 3 did and after a bit of tension, and a Speak and Thought Reading spell, the party talked with them. They party learned the following; They use the name 'deep frogmen' even though they bare no resemblance to frogs. They worship a demon named Bulllbin, a name that is known to the wizards in the party but the only thing they knew about Bulllbin is he is generally associated with Frogmen. The Deep Frogmen are looking for something, a large stone 2 feet in diameter that is clear like water. They couldn't describe it more precisely. They know it is somewhere in human lands, but don't know where. They seem to dislike goblins, orcs, and particularly lizardmen. The party agreed to meet them in a week and bring samples of material they thought it might be (diamond, quartz). The Deep Frogmen said that they would pay an amount 'more then it is worth it you'. They showed the party a small blue topaz (which Banric stole), and said they also had magic items. The Deep Frogmen also said they might bring 'leaders' to the meeting in a week. Intersession II8/5/2018 In between sessions the party finally sold the horses they took from the Gypsies. After all the locals and the party sold the horses an enterprising local horse breeder went around and bought all the horses with the intention of taking them to Stouton and resaling them for a profit. However a few hours outside of Kindleton he was set upon by a pack of wolves, in the middle of the day, in the middle of settled lands... All the horse were killed, but he survived.
Eadwig also had a conversation with Ex. Sebastian, trying to get some heal spells. In the conversation Eadwiz apparently said SOMETHING about the whale recovery adventure that Sabastian did not know, and did not like. Sebastian left to talk to Ex. Nicolas about it. Before he left he examined Eadwig's wounds and said that he would fully recover (and did not heal him). Mamma Bear is Just Right8/2/2018 6 Nov 614
As the party headed down the south road to try and capture a "lizard person", Banric explained that he had heard of a long abandoned wizard's research lab in this area. The lab was someplace nearby in the Stallion Forest to the west of the road. He had some knowledge of the 'traps' in the lab but did not know the specifics of the research done there. Drywynn didn't need convincing, Eadwig thought it was a great idea, and Ex. Nicolas thought it would be prudent to make sure that nothing in the lab fell into the hands of local monsters. The party would be on the lookout for both the lab and the "lizard people". The party never found the lab or "lizard people", instead accidentally getting between a mother bear and her cub. Very fortunately, Drywynn was able to put the mother to sleep, and Banric killed the non-hostile cub. Very unfortunately, the party decided to kill the sleeping bear with minimal preparations. The mother bear survived the initial attack, but was badly injured. An uncoordinated fight ensued, with Eadwig yelling for everyone to run, but not himself running, Ex. Nicolas likewise did not run, however Banric and Drywynn did run. Eadwig stood toe to toe with the bear trading blows for almost a minute and very nearly was mauled to death. The wizards eventually returned and the bear was killed. Having been rebuffed the party decided to try and make it back to Kindleton before dark. They made to back a few hours after sunset only because Eadwig marked the party's path on the way through the forest AND because Banric talked to an old lumber jack about the geography before leaving. On the way back, in the dark about 1 mile outside of town, the party encounter 2 "lizard people" who came within 75 feet of the party, the 'lizard people' shot a few arrows at the party but did not engage. Drywynn cast Speak on himself and approached one of them in his homemade invisibility suit trying to talk to the "lizard person" in the Frogman language. He also tried to Bewitch the "lizard person", but either the spell didn't work, or the 'lizard person' did not understand the Frogman language. Brothers' Tale7/27/2018 03 Nov 614
The party was 15 minutes outside of Kindleton, Ex. Nicolas passed the time making small talk with his brother Ex. Sabastian who seemed distant and melancholy. Inside Kindleton the party went about its business, Drywynn spent time meeting the townspeople and trying to be helpful and friendly. Half the people would scarcely look at him let along talk to him. But he met a 14 year old boy named Rinc, carrying a large load of clothe. Drywynn helped and talked with the boy, after awhile the boy told Drywynn that a few nights ago he out with his girl, Orva, doing what comes naturally south of town. They ended up farther south then they intended, and he saw one of the "spotted lizard people" talking to a frogman. He watched for about 30 minutes, and the frogman gave the "spotted lizard people" around a dozen spears. Rinc felt like he needed to tell someone, but didn't want to get in trouble. The next morning the party met with some of the leaders of Kindleton and were debriefed about the "spotted lizard people". They also found out that the town was considering starting to build a stone wall around the town. However, only relatively poor quality stone was available, and they would need a skill stone mason. Unfortunately no stone masons were available because of the resent earthquakes. Drywynn vague remembered that Cuthgil from Birchwen was an out of work stone mason, a message was sent to Cuthgil and he transported his family to Kindleton. Ex. Nicolas had a private conversation with his brother Ex. Sabastian where is tried to gently confront his brother about the townspeople murdering the Roma who were put to sleep by Drywynn, without identifying which wizard cast the spell. However, instead Sebastian won his brother over, with the following argument; The townspeople were victims of the cruel wizard's magic. After all the wizard gave no warning that he was about to put all the Roma to sleep. How could he expect anyone to survive a life and death armed struggle if they are magically put to sleep? If even your foot slips inappropriately in such a fight you are dead... Even though the Roma are heretics, and were the aggressors in this fight, they should not have been so coolly and efficiently murdered by the wizard. And manipulating the townspeople into killing them, instead of the wizard doing it himself has left Sabastian and possibly other townspeople scarred. Gypsy Blood at Dusk7/11/2018 03 Nov 614
Having heard that the mysterious lizard creatures had been seen south of Kindelton and that Count Goodyear had sent soldiers there, the party traveled to 20 miles to the town. Ex. Nicolas was raised in Kindelton and was anxious to reunite with his family. Outside of the town Ex. Nicolas heard shouting and the sounds of a fight on a nearby hill. Upon investigation the party saw a group of ten carts forming a camp near a tree. On one side of camp, a group of around 10 children, woman, and elderly were taking cover, on the other seemed to be a group of locals fighting armed Roma but the conflict was mainly obscured. As the party neared they could see a pair of locals thinking twice before engaging the Roma. Two Roma rogues tried to back stab the party as they approached. One missed Eadwig, the second grievously injured Banic. A young gypsy woman defended the non-combatants with the use of some kind of 'gypsy charm' that made an attacker halt with fear. Drywynn cast Cause Sleep and incapacitated all the gypsy combatants. However the locals killed the sleeping gypsies to a man. The noncombatant gypsies fled, and Drywynn followed wearing the party's home made invisibility cloak. Once away from the party Drywynn helped the gypsies as much as he could, but did not reveal that he was part of the group that attacked the gypsy camp. Drywynn was given a 'luck charm' for his kindness. Back at the camp the party found that among the locals was Ex. Sebastian, Ex. Nicholas's brother. Who said that the locals were trying to run the gypsies off after it was found that they were spreading their heretical ways to a local boy. The gypsies became hostile and attacked. Banric led an effort to steal or destroy everything in the gypsy camp. Sebastian and Nicholas lobbied to leave the 2 survivors 2 carts and 3 horses. Drywynn refused any of the money or horses taken from the gypsies, and confronted Nicolas saying the locals had been murderously immoral. Nicolas was contemplative but did not actually ask more about the circumstances of the attack. Get the Money and Stay!7/6/2018 26 Oct 0614
The party spent two playing sessions doing the kinds of things that one expects post-adventure: getting paid in birds, trying to build a public garden, attacking another PC's wife, doing involuntary exploratory surgery, investigating why the last set of rations tasted so good, etc. A Pit of Burning Goblins6/24/2018 23 Oct 614
Looking to exterminate the problematic goblins the party traveled to the sacrificial pit where in the past the party rescued the two daughters of Cuthgil. Even without formal training in stealth the party snuck up to the goblin pit, quietly killing one guard. The party moved in closer to the sacrificial pit, but Banric pealed off to check a small group of trees for concealed goblins. Ex. Nicholas followed. In the dim light Banric saw a short figure in one of the trees, he shot it with his crossbow. The figure didn’t react, and the force of the strike caused the figure to rotate revealing that it was the dead body of a human child. Banric approached to examine the child, but the goblins had dug a pit trap under the dead child. Banric’s foot went through the edge of the trap but he caught himself and didn’t fall in (04 on an Agl check). Banric and Ex. Nicolas started exposing the edges of the pit trap but missed judged the pit’s edge and ended up falling in himself (95 on Agl check). Banric tried to grab him but failed (91 on Agl check). Nicolas was unable to maneuver his shield to protect himself (failed Agl check) and landed hard and was impaled on several wooden stacks, grievously injuring his left arm. Banric and Ex. Nicolas spent the rest of the fight getting Nicolas out of the pit and trying to safely leave the patch of trees, being fearful of more traps. During this time Drywynn and Eadwig were waiting to approach the pit but knowing that the goblins would have heard Nicolas almost dying they moved up to intercept the goblins. Goblins poured out of their pit and 11 charged Eadwig, who moved away to separate them from the mages. Drywynn saw that what looked like a defensive hedge of sticks and limbs around the pit actually covered and filled the pit like a beaver dam. Using leaf litter, Torch, his extensive knowledge of gardening, and a fortunate gust of wind (01 on wit check and a passed gardening skill check) Drywynn set the defensive hedge ablaze--horrifically effectively. He than used Noxious Fumes at the only exit to the pit preventing the vast majority of the goblins from escaping the flames. A handful of goblins made it out of the sacrificial pit, Eadwig killed several and Drywynn put the rest to sleep. Well over 30 goblins were burned alive. Defending a Good Manor6/15/2018 22 Oct 614
Goblins massed on the far side of the river, among their ranks were many archers although little could be seen in the darkness. The goblins tried to lure the PCs or townspeople out of the manner house by pelting the area with indirect fire from a large number of slingers. No one took the bait but, on the instruction of the party, Botsig the Hamlet's best warrior walked out onto a balcony to watch the goblins. He was immediately shot at by several goblin archers, at least one of them hit and Botsig feel over the balcony unconscious. Ex. Nicolas was in the midst of having Eadwig construct a dummy to draw goblin fire. When he heard Botsig fall, Ex. Nicolas run to a nearby window, Eadwig revealed the dummy through an upstairs window causing the goblin archers to fire. Ex. Nicolas then heroically jumped out the window, expertly dodging several sling stones as he pulled Botsig to safety. The people of Birchwen hailed Ex. Nicolas as a hero. The goblins continued to harass the manor house to no avail. Planning to find the goblin's lair and destroy them, the party needed more time to recuperate, so they spent the next day repairing the manor, gathering water, trying to gather animals (the goblins had taken most by then), getting tools from houses, and searching the sites of past battles (finding a magical small crude doll with a mouse skull for a head). During this time Banic cast Infest to attract mosquitoes and biting flies to locations the goblins used to fire from the night before. That night the Goblins approached that area to again harass the manor. When they approached one of the infestations the goblins immediately scattered, screaming, some dropped their weapons, one even fled into the river and quickly drowned. Back in Birchwen6/13/2018 21 Oct 0614
The session started with the party outside of Birchwen, as they approached they saw that several of the small numbers of wooden house where damaged with sections of walls reduced to rubble. Once the party was up to the houses Eadwig saw a few yellow skinned goblins armed with bow among the buildings. A running battle quickly developed with separate small groups for goblins fighting subgroups of the party as they maneuvered around various houses. At some locations goblins fled and regroups, other places they pushed back party member. The party did eventually kill or drive off all the goblins from Birchwen. If was quickly discovered that most of the villagers had fled to safety in Wulgan's manor house tot he north, some had been killed, some were missing and two families were still trapped in there houses which the goblins were not destroying/burning down for unknown reasons. The family of XXX had 2 large dogs, the second family was that of Cuthgil whose girls the party rescued the first time they were in Birchwen. The party was able to get both families to the manor house, but a group of goblins and a shaman where amassing on the far side of the river. Banric ran out and Magic Missiled the shaman, taking a bad arrow hit in the process. The Shaman fell and the group of goblins retreated, dragging their shaman. Seeing this, Nicholas ran forward and shot the dead or unconscious Shaman with his bow. At the manor house the party learned that the goblins attacked 2 days ago and the villagers have been defending the manor house that whole time. Necromancer + dog = earthquake5/16/2018 03 Oct 614
Harvesting the whale ended up taking over two weeks but went very well. 27,300 pounds of meat/fat was harvested. Not to mention the bones, oil, and ambergris which is the real monetary value of the whale. Baron Leeinuf a member of King Peotred's court (and a synthetic baron) came to check on the whale on behalf of the King and praise the holiness of Ex. Henderson who Ignimius granted the boon of preserving the whale. Shortly before the party was set to leave a moderate earthquake hit the city. Banric and Drywynn where sleeping in the Conclave which was unaffected, Ex. Henderson was sleeping on the boat. Only Eadwig, sleeping at the temple, was awoken. At risk to himself he spent the night helping people trapped by falling roofs or other structures. The old marble architecture of the city seemed untouched, but many wooden buildings and wooden components of stone buildings were destroyed. The Censors for the prelature started looking for a moral explanation for the earthquake and found it in the abused and dying dog Banic left tied to a tree. The Censors healed the dog and took it in the city to be cared for. The party left and traveled back to the Hamlet of Birchwen to try and kill the goblin shaman that 'got away' when they rescued Cuthgil's two daughters. On the way, near Thorne Castle a patrol warned them that a lizard like monster was seen in the area and had killed some livestock. |
